I recently got really into the topic of banned books and most specifically the book speak. i'd like to share my opinions.
We the people of the United States of America have the First Amendment which reads “Congress shall make no law prohibiting the freedom of speech, of the press or the right of the people to assemble peaceably.” In other words, this means you have the right to read any book without repercussions! which means that when a book is banned from schools or librairies it violates the first amendment (at least from my perspective)to ban a book is to silence the voice of the author that wrote it! the book speak is a favorite of mine as it really resonated with me as someone who has been through sexual assault.professor wesley scroggins at missouri state university in 2010 first challenged the book by saying the discussion of rape in the book was like soft pornograpju and that the book lacked morality as to him the book was biased against male students. rape is a reality many have come to face and undermining a novel that speaks on such an uncomfortable topic seems ignorant.

ive also seen many ppl talk about this topic !
because america has such a stable protection of the first amendment, banned books r usually made by local authorities ! therefore only affecting particular school/district/library/etc in their area, but if there is a case that a book is banned nationally then yes it would be violating our rights(•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑
yes yes you're right ill pin this just incase! i am not trying to spread misinformation just saying my view on it i know it is in only specific areas but i still find it a bit weird!
