Slowing down while on the road!

So, a few days ago I wrote about how overwhelmed I was with my own ambitions; and while having ambitions are a good thing, I needed to remember to slow down and give myself some breathing room. Now, what does “slowing down” look like when you’re on the move?

Currently I’m on a family trip across my country. We rode our car and spent most of the day driving through what seemed like endless roads. I usually plug in my earphones and listen to whatever playlist (or podcast ((Love u Stephanie Soo and Wizard Liz!)) or anything interesting), but today I realized something.

It might sound stupid, and everyone could probably see it coming. But the way to slow down in this kind of situation is to practice Gratitude and living in the moment, taking time to connect with my family. And, well, I’m embarrassed to admit that for the past half year or so, I haven’t spent much time with them because of University. And now that I do have time, I should spend it wisely. I’m sure that even a toddler can figure that out, but being busy sure do cloud your brain.

I felt grateful, and excitement today. Even though much of today was spent in the car stuck in traffic jams, it gave us time to talk and I learned so much family gossip today lol. We also shared so much laughter. We had the opportunity to visit some extended families throughout the cities that we passed, and I feel connected to something bigger than myself. I’m so grateful to have a kind and very very very large extended family that still loves to be in each others’ company. They were so kind even though I haven’t met them in years (or ever, really!)

At the end of the day I remembered my favorite things: At night I always have a ritual of bathing and putting on a comfy nightgown. It’s nice to have all the fatigue melt away by warm water; It’s even nicer to feel the smooth bedsheets and blankets hug your body. Somehow, it lures you to sleep like a graceful mermaid singing a song.

That’s the blog for today! Hope that made even a tiny bit of sense. What’s your gratitude or epiphany of the day?
