I wrote about Just Shapes and Beats because I wanted to write about it

Hello everyone

I like JSAB a lot. It's an indie game made by Berzerk Studio that came out in like 2018 and I've probably played it for the first time around that time. I am considering playing the game again, actually. I like the game because it was fun and the music slapss. The game features loads of tracks made by various artists! Right now it really has sent me back to that time of my life when I only listened to stuff like the music in this game.

OK but what *is* Just Shapes and Beats?

To continue, according to the game's Steam page, ""Just Shapes & Beats" is a chaotic co-op musical bullet-hell based on three simple things: avoid Shapes, move to the kick-ass Beats, and die, repeatedly.". If you ask me, seems about right. Yeah the quote above said it's co-op but you can also play alone.

So first of all, there's of course a single player mode, the story mode (though I've just read you can play this with others too now?), where you go through every track of the game, along a set path of them. What I mean that yeah they're in a specific order as you proceed forward in the game. Anyways here you play as this cyan cube. And as you could have guessed you have to dodge/dash through pink shapes. And in most cases the shapes are visibly coordinated to the song of their stages, which is cool. As I remember, the player you have 4 hp, which means you can be hit 4 times by the shapes before you die. Tho don't worry because there are checkpoints mid-stage on a lot of stages!

And the multiplayer mode (or challenge mode) is also just this, but you can play with more people here - everyone gets to play a different shape aside the cube! Specifically four players can play this together. This game mode features stages already seen in the story mode, plus bonus ones. The gameplay is pretty much the same, except you get to vote for what stage you want 3 times, then there's gonna be a boss you can't vote as far as I am aware. Another difference here is that players don't just die here, you can revive eachother. I have never played any mode with others before, but it's probably fun.

So this is all for this. And definitely recommend it if you like bullet hell type games. I just felt like writing about this game because I liked it, and this is not supposed to be any kind of serious review of the game. ^_^
