I don't know why I've seen that they rank episode 3 better 5 or 6. I guess it's because it's not as old as the others and has more action, plus a mythical fight scene of Anakin against Obi Wan on Mustafar. But fuck me, it tries to be a political drama but it doesn't succeed, a lot of people lose body parts, and Anakin is cut up like a kebab and left as a durum. Personally I think return of the jedi is better, val that changes the tone in the third act, but the fight in the sarlacc, Leia enslaved, the ewoks.... THE FINAL BATTLE!!!! father and son fighting again, you can feel the desperation of Luke about to kill his father, Darth Vader and his redemption... It is absolutely cinema.
And of course, the Empire Strikes Back, the most serious, the most desolate ending and the scene that marked the blockbuster (I don't even need to say it). Anyway, this is objective and personal, technically the best would be episode 5 because it was the one that most marked the blockbuster movies.

I agree, I think more people should appreciate the 6th episode more, because, like you said, the manipulation to try and get Luke to join the dark side, then Darth Vader defending his son, then the watches can finally see Darth's true emotions towards his son. Then the reunion of father and son. And in the end while everyone is celebrating the victory of the war, Luke is mourning the death of his father.
And yes the epic fight between Anakin and Obi-wan, and the emotion showed between them was amazing and deserves it's love but the OG movies should be appreciated more.
