HELLOOOOOOOOO GUYS, GIRLS, AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN!!!
Today, let’s talk about the Chinese style: SHAMATE

What is SHAMATE ?
✪ The shamate subculture popped up in the mid-2000s on Qzone, thanks to Luo Fuxing. The word "shamate" (杀马特, Shā mǎ tè) comes from the chinese pronunciation of the english word ‘’smart’’. It started with young urban Chinese from poor, rural backgrounds who moved to the cities in search of work.

THEIR HAIR :
✪ One of the most iconic features of shamate fashion is their wild hairstyles. Shamate are all about messy, spiked, or super-teased hair, often dyed in bold colors like red, yellow, or blue, though other shades are just as loved in the community. Temporary sprays and dyes were super popular too, mostly because over-the-top hair made it hard for them to get hired in China’s factories.

THEIR MAKEUP :
✪ Shamates go for bold makeup with heavy eyeliner, eyeshadow, and dark vibes, kind of an emo/visual kei mix.

THEIR CLOTHES :
✪ As for clothes, shamate draw a lot of inspiration from punk, scene and emo fashion. Think edgy accessories like religious symbols, dog collars, or anything that screams darkness and death. It’s all about making a bold, rebellious statement.
