おはようみなさん!

I've been posting about my language learning over on my langblr blog, mochifaun, but I thought I'd start doing so here to bring some life to my spacehey account c:

Today I went over the みなのにほんご Lesson 2 Vocab and Grammar lessons! The vocab was for review since I first watched it yesterday. I learned a few new things in this lesson. It's interesting how みなのにほんご differs from the Genki lessons with ToKini Andy. I feel like these go a lot more in-depth with certain grammar points, and covers certain things that Genki doesn't even talk about in the same amount of time.

For example: In lesson 2 of Genki, I wasn't learning about S1ですか、S2ですか。Which, as it turns out, is how you ask if something is X or Y!

I also learned how to say これからおせわになります。which translates to "I hope for your kind assistance hereafter." It's something that you'd use either when meeting your new boss for the first time, in a customer service setting, or if you're genuinely hoping for someone's assistance in the future like if you're meeting your new neighbors.

Speaking of, there's also the phrase ほんおきもちです。which is for when you're giving a gift, and they respond どうもありがとうございます。(doumo arigatou gozaimasu) - Thank you very much. It means "it's nothing / it's just a token of my gratitude." So it's a more humble way to say "you're welcome" from what it seems.

Thank you so much for reading! I plan to take a break from big lessons for the weekend and work on review + flashcards until monday.

さようなら!
