thoughts on Oscars noms (they kinda suck)

So like I just saw a video on Schaffrillas Productions reviewing to the Oscar Noms for this year and hooooooo they kinda suck

Now look I get that at the end of day award show sucks, they're rigged and stuff and no one really watches them outside of film enthusiasts and rich people but yea these were kinda shit, im disappointed and I barely saw any of these!

1. Dear Lord why did Emilia Pérez get so many?!

So one film that appears to be sweeping awards this season is the movie Musical drama Emilia Pérez. Reports are saying it got about as many noms as Oppenheimer did last year. Now what's the film about? I didn't see it but a few searches tell us a quick summary of the film is a Mexican lawyer gets a job helping a cartel leader leave the cartel and begin life fresh and transition into a women. Seems good but a majority of the public(including Mexican and trans people) are not very found of the movie. Now these are just a fecriticisms I've seen talked about by Mexican and Trans people but a few reasons why people don't like this film and even possibly find it offensive:

1. It wasn't made in Mexico or has any Mexican stars. It also doesn't really portray or go into Mexican Culture...for a film about Mexican people.

2. The trans rep isn't good

3. It really only skims the surface of its subject matter of cartels, gender transitioning, etc

I found this article which seems to go into the reasons better then I could: LINK

Yea but anyways this film got 13 noms tf?

2. Same films for every category

I get that a lot of movies flopped this year for box office reasons, for marketing reasons, or the films just sucked. But it felt like the same films were nominated for every category expect animated, shorts and documentary. Like if you see a category, its almost guaranteed that A Complete Unknown(didn't see I don't care about Bob Dylan), Conclave(I also didn't see this one but I've heard its pretty good) , Emilia Pérez, and Wicked(haven't seen it yet but I think we all knew this would sweep the noms) would be in the noms. Like other films came out y'all

Also Nosferatu got a bunch but that movie was cool in a gothic horror way so I excuse it.

Also The Substance got a few and I've heard its a good movie(haven't seen it if anyone knows where I can watch plzz tell meh)

3. Snubs

I and the general public think a lot of films got snubbed and deserved the nom a lot more than Emilia Pérez.

Me personally I think Beetlejuice 2 should have a least gotten a nom for Effects or Makeup cuz I thought the effects did a great job of capturing the hand made spirit of the OG without relying on CGI too much.

Also like no Jonathan Bailey for supporting actor? Like I think he killed it as Fiyero.

And like how did the Wild Robot not get a nom for best original song! Like "Kiss the Sky" is a banger and that scene bro.....🥹

4. Wins for animation at least

I am happy that there was a win for animation this year. With Flow getting nommed for best international film and The Wild Robot being nommed for Sound, it's nice to see animation getting recognized for something other than being animated.

Also the noms for best animated feature are so good

Like the new Wallace and Gromit movie is so whimsy and fun, The Wild Robot is beautiful

I haven't seen Flow or Memoir of a Snail, but they look amazing

I'll be happy if any of those films wins(not like Inside Out 2 was bad, I just like it when Disney takes Ls)(Kinda really rooting for Wallace and Gromit tho)

Conclusion lol

So to conclude, Oscar noms are mid this year and just like wake me up and tell me who won best animated feature.
