When I was little everything I gave to my friends was handmade. I took time before a birthday or other event to make something personal for the person.
In the later years when I was around 11, I stopped doing this and went with the mainstream. I never gifted something handmade any more and bought something like everyone else. Usually in plastic, something that gets thrown away after a year and breaks really easily. Now that I am older and I found myself in some way, I feel like handmade gifts are so much more than just the gift.
Handmade gifts take time, thought and making. This process makes you think about the person, what would they like?, what can they use in their daily life? and so on. The time that you spend thinking about a loved one make you appreciate them more. You reflect on your moments together and realise how much that person means to you.
The time you spend making the gift is not only nice for yourself but also ads such a deeper meaning for the receiver. When I receive a handmade gift I appreciate it much more than a bought gift because I feel like there is a real thought behind it. They thought about what I liked and what they want to give to me. This makes it as the giver so much more fun to make. As the maker you also look forward to the reaction and appreciation that they will show you. The appreciation and happiness shown by the receiver is so much more rewarding than if you give a bought gift. The handmade gift is a little part of yourself in which you express you love towards the receiver.
Hope this inspires you a bit!

I've never received a handmade gift :< I mostly give handmade gifts to my friends, I'm hoping to receive the same thing but I guess it's too much for them. But is it really too much for them to just grab a piece of paper and throw some shits together??? It's the thought that counts...
But hey, nice blog! I often just make handmade gifts for myself at the end of the day, it's my form of self love :3
Now that I think about it, I haven't received a handmade gift in a while either. It never really bothered me I think that everyone has their own way of showing love/appreciation, for me it is handmade gifts.
Even though it is nice to receive handmade gifts and I encourage making them, I do feel like my loved ones have their own way of showing me love through something else.
But keep making them I am sure they appreciated it so much!
