I'm not an insomniac myself and have troubles sleeping, but my mother is so i've seen it firsthand, i'm so sorry you have to deal with that, man.

How does Isomnia work, if you don't mind me asking? Just curious!

hmm i dunno how specific you want it but its caused by many factors. For me its just stress and my brain, as i said before, not being able to shut down. At least that is my experience. other cases its caused by lingering mental illnesses which, I mean, crap. dont we all have those.

Yeah sadly I feel like a bunch of mental illnesses are on the rise these days and there aren't as many people who can actually diagnose and combat the issue, I think? (I could be wrong) I honestly wasn't looking for a straightforward answer as I am sure explaining a disease like that would actually take some research and time to figure out what exactly causes it and why (as I am sure if there was a way to cure/temporary neutralize this specific mental disease it would be widely distributed but when thinking about medical treatments and pharma drugs, those take a long time before they are even considered viable for humans)

All that yapping aside, how do you normally combat the issue?

YEPPP!! Couldn't agree more, honestly.
ehhh not sure if this is the best thing to say but I have turned to alchohol like...four-ish times. But mostly I just wait untill exhaustion takes me (like last night) since I don't have melatonin pills...(which kinda aint working anymore :((( )

Aw that sucks I really wish you could fall asleep normally. Honestly, I am really glad that you shared that you use alcohol as you know if it works it works, but do be careful around that stuff as Alcohol should be treated the same way as tobacco (as an carcinogenic agent). So as a carcinogenic agent, this means that the body can build up this toxic substance and cause your DNA cells not to repair itself which means it can begin to lose control and tumors can form.

But at this point if the healthy option doesn't seem to be working I would go and see a doctor just to see what they have to say about your situation. As the last thing that I want you to do is end up hurting yourself and just ignoring it because it helps you sleep at night.
