안녕~! so recently, i fell down a k-pop nostalgia rabbit hole and ended up rediscovering fly to the sky. do you remember them?! or am i the only one suddenly replaying missing you on loop? (´•̥ω•̥`) i wanted to figure out what happened to them because, honestly, their music still holds up. plus, brian is EVERYWHERE and still killing it, so let’s dive in! ♡
the golden era
fly to the sky debuted in 1999 under sm entertainment with day by day, and omg, their voices?? UNREAL. hwanhee’s deep, emotional tone + brian’s smooth vocals were unmatched. they weren’t just another idol group—they had RANGE. songs like sea of love (the ultimate summer jam) and condition of my heart (crying-in-the-rain vibes) made them stand out. honestly, their music hits differently even now.
life after sm
in 2004, they left sm entertainment (gasp!) but it was actually the best move for them. their 2006 album transition was pure art. and let’s not forget missing you in 2003—it’s ICONIC. that song basically wrote the soundtrack for heartbreak. (ಥ﹏ಥ) even without sm, they proved they were legends, focusing on rich r&b ballads that hit you right in the feels.
also I'm not letting anyone forget abt this
where did they go?! ㅠㅠ
after their 2009 album, they went on a “break” ㅜㅜ.
brian stayed busy with variety shows and solo music, showing off his funny, upbeat personality. hwanhee took a more serious route with acting and solo albums. both of them did well on their own, but i missed their DUO chemistry so much.
the reunion we needed ♡
in 2014, they finally reunited for their 9th album, continuum. you you you was the comeback song, and let me just say—instant tears. (ノД`)・゜・。their voices hadn’t changed at all, and the album felt like a gift to all the fans who waited.
brian: the variety king
fast forward to today, and brian is seriously thriving. he’s on tv, hosting shows, and still connecting with fans like it’s 2002. (✿◠‿◠) he’s active on social media, too, which is amazing if you want updates or just wanna feel connected. his personality is still so warm and funny, and i love seeing him stay relevant in the industry.
hwanhee: the vocal powerhouse
hwanhee is more lowkey but still focused on his music and acting. his voice is as powerful as ever, and he’s one of those artists who doesn’t need flashy comebacks to remind you of his talent.
what’s next?
as of now, there’s no official word on another fly to the sky project, but who knows? they’ve surprised us before. in the meantime, i’ll be here streaming their classics and pretending i’m in a 2000s k-drama. ♡
songs you NEED to hear again (or for the first time!)
missing you (the ultimate heartbreak anthem)
gravity (so emotional, it hurts ㅠㅠ)
condition of my heart (a classic for sad hours)
sea of love (summer vibes all the way!)
- you you you (their comeback masterpiece)
seriously, if you haven’t listened to fly to the sky in a while, you’re missing out. they’re not just nostalgia—they’re timeless. they give eternal good vibes. anyway, should i make more blogs like this? idk... i'm lazy but we'll see, i have so many groups/duos/soloists to blab abt! welp, bye bye for now! ♡
fly to the sky forever~! ٩(♡ε♡)۶
