very niche and silly sonic pet peeves

- "Shadow and Maria grew up in the 50s because SA2 was released in 2001 and Shadow was stuck in cryostasis for 50 years."

Project Shadow shut down 50 years ago, it wasn't created fifty years ago, unless Shadow was only alive for like a week or something, which I don't believe in. Either way Shadow wouldn't've grown up with much 50s culture anyway since the latest date he'd be conscious would be 1951, going by this headcanon. If anything, he would've grown up on late 1940s culture instead. No Elvis Presley for him.

- "They ran their fingers through their soft quills—" (and similar)

Quills were evolved to be a defense mechanism against predators, they would be completely useless in that regard if they were soft like fur or hair. Everyone (including some canon!) treats quills like regular hair when it really shouldn't be. I'll accept them having the flexibility of a broom bristle for different hairstyles, maybe, but anything looser or softer than that is a no-go.

- Hedgehogs purr, but not in the same way cats do. It's very very quiet, almost inaudible, and it's more of a click/popping sound than a rrrrumble like a cat's.

- Hedgehogs don't groom each other. They are solitary animals, many of which (usually the males) are highly territorial, often needing their own personal cages, so they don't have that social aspect to their species at all. Stop making them cats! Sure they're fictional hedgehogs, but it just feels so pointless and disingenuous giving them animal features their species doesn't even have.

- Why does every transmasc Sonic I see have top scars. He's 15. Where did he get the surgery? More importantly, why would he care? Sonic's a very self-assured guy. I personally think he'd be fine with his breasts, if he was a trans guy. More binding/straight-up tits-out transmasc Sonics please. (Also, people get so weird when you point out the possibility of trans Sonic having breasts. Like. What do you think top surgery does. Existence of top scars means he had breasts to get rid of at some point. Are top scars just some cool tattoo signifying transness to you or something? 'Cause a lot of artists treat it that way, from what I've seen.)

- The "male hedgehogs have chest fur and female ones do not" headcanon pisses me off. It's based on an extremely small sample size; you can't make an assumption about the sexual dimorphism of an entire species based on four data points. It's also presented as "proof" that Sonic is a trans guy, but ends up implying that Silver, Shadow, and Amy are all cis, somehow.
