Ever since I was a little child, the first time I was on the internet was more fun than what I had to endure today. I could still remember the days of visiting websites that are more engaging for someone as a child ever since the 2000s and the 2010s. I couldn't use social media back then, as I was too young to be even using them.
1. Playhouse Disney
I could still remember the days of serving ice cream to the bunnies in BunnyTown, helping the Imagination Movers find the missing scribble sticks, and helping Goofy with the silly slide for the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. When I was allowed on the computer, I could remember playing these games. One of my favorite games on that website was Jumpin' JoJo, which is a game based on my favorite childhood show, JoJo's Circus. A claymation show I used to watch. They're not just known for their games, they also have interactive storybooks too. I've loved them. They have some fun activities that go along with the story.
2. PBS Kids
Do I still remember those days of helping Sid the Science Kid with science experiments, helping Big Bird from Sesame Street find Ernie, or even helping out in the cafeteria with a character from Arthur? Yes. PBS Kids would usually be my favorite go to website, even when I was in school. But it's not just home to Arthur and Sesame Street, it's also the place where there are games based on the Teletubbies, Boohbah, Mr Roger's Neighborhood, and Super Why. These games are mostly educational. I could also remember Between the Lions very well. Maybe it could be time to rewatch the show if I get the chance.
3. Wonka
If you remember Wonka candies when you were a kid, you probably may have visited the website where you can play so many games. I remembered playing a game called WONKA Wild Coaster Game. It's my favorite one, since I was a huge roller coaster fanatic when I was a kid. I am still a Roller Coaster fanatic today, since I've been watching videos about it. I also enjoyed Runts Collector too. These are the only games that I could remember. I'll play some other games I could find. But who knows.
4. Nick Jr
There were some games there that I could remember playing. Blue's Clues was my favorite show from that network for a long time. I remember the days of watching the VHS tapes on my television. I also have another favorite show called Dora the Explorer. I remembered when I played a game where you play as a dog and go through so many levels where you get the keys that free each of the puppies. It was called Dora's Puppy Adventure. You could also listen to the Nick Jr Radio online. There was also a Lazy Town themed game I remembered playing called Superhero Challenge. It felt like I was playing a board game. Pixelspix was also another game where you can check out Pixel's computer. Along the way, Robbie Rotten would appear and the user would have to put him in the trash can to trap him.
5. RCDB (Roller Coaster Database)
As I had said before, I was a huge roller coaster fanatic. This website is the best for looking up some amazing roller coasters at different theme parks. I would always refresh the page to see what random roller coaster would pop up. There would sometimes be information on what park it is in. Sometimes, I wish I could go to those parks and ride them myself. I didn't like looping coasters at first because I thought I could fall off, but I guess my childhood fear is gone now. I still remember going on them to this day.
6. Noggin
Before Noggin became Nick Jr, I visited their website particularity because I was a fan of Oobi. I also remember when you could visit the site to do some artwork. Those where the days, before I started to do some artwork that I can share with the entire world. There was also, Miffy, The Upside Down Show, Blue's Clues, Maisy, Connie the Cow, 64 Zoo Lane, and so many other shows too. I don't know what else to say, but it brings me back to those good old days.
7. Starfall
The first time I was on Starfall is when I was at school. During my break time, I would hop on my computer and see what kinds of stuff you would like to do there. I would remember reading stories on that site that helped get started on my literacy skills. One of my favorites I like to visit is the music section in learn to read. It's a lot of fun, and I still remember it to this day.
8. Webkinz
I remember visiting this site too well. Webkinz world is a website where you plush toy comes to life. By entering in the code, you can adopt a pet. Once you do that you can take care of it. One of the most fun things to do is visit the arcade where you can earn virtual points called Kinzcash. Kinzcash allows you to buy stuff from the W shop. I also remember when they used to have DiceKinz, and I had fun playing it. The curio shop is one of my favorite places that I have visited. Besides shopping there, you could partake in a gem hunt. If you collect all 30 gems, you could get the Webkinz crown of wonder. I couldn't get it the day I left. Wonder if I could revisit this website and finish up what I started years ago?
9. Poptropica
I never thought I would be talking about it, but Poptropica was something special. I used to play it, before I forgot about it. Users on the site would visit and island and they could explore. I could still remember visit that one island being themed to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I remember reading these books when I was little, and still remember them today.
10. Club Penguin
When I first heard about Club Penguin, I knew I had to join in on the craze. It's an online game where players can visit igloos, take part in sledding races, become a secret agent, and play a card game called card-jujitsu. (I became a water ninja in this one.) There were also some fun events I can participate in such as Hollywood Party, Halloween Party, and there were also some EPF (Elite Penguin Force) events too. Sadly, there were only five of them like Operation Blackout, Operation Hot Sauce, Operation Puffle, Operation Crustacean, and Operation Tri-umph if I can recall. Sadly, I was heartbroken to hear that Club Penguin was closing down in 2017. Guess I will miss those days. Maybe one day, I will revisit the site.
11. Cool Math Games
Cool math games is where I can play most of the games I remembered like Papa's Burgeria and Papa's Pizzeria. Those games were created by Flipline Studios. I used to think that I can get some shifts there before my break time was over. I was at school during that time, and I would get straight to work with other games like Papa's Dogeria, Papa's Hot Wingeria, Papa's Freezeria, and Papa's Pasteria. There are other games other than those made by Flipline Studios. Feels like an educational version of Newgrounds. Is it?
Well, that is all of the websites from my childhood. I would revisit them someday, but for now, I think I am sticking with whatever I have right now. So, I will miss some of the websites that are not there anymore, but I will remember them. So, I leave you with one question. What's your favorite website from your childhood?
