First time watching Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
#Crime #Comedy #Action #Romance
Runtime: 2 hours
Mr. & Mrs. Smith is type of a movie that has action scenes that are intense, explosive, and excitement.
It has a good blend of humor and action scenes. I would say it is a little more on the humorous side differently than action films. Some scenes may be cheesy. I wouldn't recommend anyone who like action films unless you like the comedic twist :)
It is about two married suburb couple, John (Brad Pitt) and Jane Smith (Angelina Jolie) are secretly undercover assassins working for different agencies but neither of them know their real identity. Their marriage looks normal. they do things such as eating dinner together, shares a home, and attend social outings like any other couple but underneath of the marriage, their relationship are kinda rocky due to their secrets and lot of misleading. They found out about their real jobs as they're both assigned to kill each other..and rest of the movie.
My opinions:
(spoiler alert ish )
I love the chemistry between John and Jane. It shows full of energy and heated. They interactions has sparks that got me interested.
in beginning of the movie, their relationship wasn't that great because lack of emotional intimacy. John and Jane seem more like roommates than a married couple. Their conversations are mostly everyday things in a shallow way but never share anything deep or personal despite that they still have the unseen attraction between them. Their physical intimacy shows subtle flirting in the casual interactions and "sarcastic" bickers. The scene begins with the two having causal dinner in their suburban home and engaging in lighthearted conversations but underneath, there's unsaid that add layer of tension.J When they found out about the mission, their old spark slowly comes back again.
as they found out about the truth, the romance conflict begins.
It wasn't about the act of spying but the trust and betrayal
The main of the conflict was about the trust issues and complicates everything
because of a mission, they felt so betrayal because the betrayal they feel isn't just about their careers; it becomes personal. Imagine finding that your spouse is an enemy. The betrayal goes beyond the act of lying others in a professional environment. Trust between them is crumbled. Can they ever trust each other???
personally, I think the message of Mr. & Mrs. Smith is that relationships can become stale and disconnected due to secrets and lack of communication. They can find the old spark if they confront the truth about themselves and can improve the honesty, effort and willingly face the challenges together.
I rated it 7 out of 10
tell me what do y'all think??
would love to hear from y'all :)
