I used to have a samsung galaxy phone. That phone accepted physical sim cards, so I was able to easily swap between my smartphone and my flip phone. But recently I got an iphone 15 which is esim only. So I spent some time calling various ATT sales reps who directed me to a "corporate store" who then told me that it'd be impossible to easily swap between esim and physical sim the way I've been doing. I guess I'd have to go to a physical store to have the sims de and re activated EVERY time I wanted to swap, when that was something I could do in less than a minute on my own before. This is so LAME. I'm fully contemplating just taking the plunge and going back to the flip phone without being able to swap off. That's pretty intimidating, though. Who thought that allowing people to rent the concept of a sim card was a good idea??

dawg, as someone who regularly changes phones just for fun, i know your pain. luckily i've largely dumped ios as a platform, but it's not uncommon for companies to follow in apples footsteps. esim is legit a dated technology that should've died off alongside forced carrier contracts.
It is impossible for carriers to not be as lame as humanly possible

carriers are one of the worst aspects of the tech space. i legit just had a run-in with at&t over unlocking a phone. i bought a new board for my iphone se 2nd gen so i could up the storage to 256gb. the board was locked to at&t, but i figured it'd be easy enough to get it unlocked. i was mistaken. i tried their unlock request service: instantly denied. tried calling their corporate hotline: couldn't reach a human being. tried asking a dude at the store: was told they'd need approval from the person that originally owned the imei of the board in the phone.
they legit make everything as difficult and as annoying as possible in the hopes that you'll just give up and give them whatever amount of money it takes to make things convenient. coming from a dude who's worked with carriers a lot during my time in repair shops, i hate carriers.

Omg yes I have att and they are so annoying. I had to go through four people just to get straight answers for things. If they ever stop supporting physical sims I'll just switch to mint mobile or something similar. I'd like to do it now but I might as well wait to complete financing my iphone

dawg for real, it's so bad. i just recently switched from them to t-mobile, which has been pretty good so far. but i also had to wait for my iphone 13 mini to finish its financing before switching. 3 years of cellular hell lol
