20/Jan/25 - Week 3 of 52
Another week down, and a fresh one off to an impeccably shite start as far as things go. Blue Monday has hit (Not the charts, that was 40 years ago), but we're rolling through for the time being, things can only get better from here on. In the end, we'll be alright, and the sun will rise again tomorrow. Enough cringey music puns, check out my bugs.
Notable Observations
At last, things are a little less slippery round my parts, so I had a little time to do some damage assessment to see how the springtails held up. It's a little quieter now, but largely things are running as usual thankfully.
Total Observations: 83
Most numerous species: Entomobrya intermedia (23 observations)
Individual Interesting Observations
Entomobrya lanuginosa
Tuesday (Jan 14th)
Entomobrya lifer #1, rather common species that was absolutely thrown in my face, saw hundreds this week!
Entomobrya multifasciata
Wednesday (Jan 15th)
Entomobrya lifer #2, also a rather common species, glad it finally decided to stop evading me...
Apion frumentarium
Thursday (Jan 16th)
Love this species, one of the coolest common weevil species imo, also the first weevil I ever saw!
Orange Rock Hair (Trentepohlia aurea)
Saturday (Jan 18th)
I don't normally do fungus, but this patch has some brilliant textures
Buzzard (Buteo buteo)
Saturday (Jan 18th)
Far away, low-quality bird pics are a recurring theme I guess
Snout Mite (Family Bdellidae)
Saturday (Jan 18th)
Mite ID is a pain, but this guy is cool as hell!!
Subamily Onychiurinae
Saturday (Jan 18th)
Poduromorph ID is a pain, but these guys are cool as hell!!

Another week down, thankfully this wasn't too much of a mess to reformat from the pile of redundant and poorly written code I had in the first two weeks, so I might actually get one of these out in under an hour next time. To see all my observations for this week logged on iNaturalist, click here.
