What makes a blog popular?

Now, the obvious answer is getting on the top blogs page, which you get by having a lot of views. And you'd think that's a starting point, but it's really not. The top blogs are either art, some reference to the early 2000s (eg:- band recs, HTML/CSS help, blinkie collections), Diary/life updates or people complaining. And no hate to anyone who makes these kinds of blog posts, they're doing what everyone else is doing: yelling into a void and seeing if anyone heard. And of course, you shouldn't base yourself off of how many kudos your blog gets.

But as the saying goes, "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" We are humans, and we crave attention. We crave to be heard. We're social creatures. So it's not so wrong to want to be noticed. After all, if we didn't want to be heard, why scream at all.

Having said that, and assuming you didn't click away from this already, tell me. Tell me what kind of blogs you're most likely to click on and why. Or maybe I'm also screaming into a void, and no one will hear me.

I've been trying to see what kinds of blog posts actually get engagement, but it feels kinda random right now. I even tried posting a photo of my cat but that didn't work lol
