Log 7: Project Sekai

For those unaware, Project Sekai is a free rhythm game featuring Vocaloid songs. It has a story and everything for each fictional band in there. If you’re itching to get carpal tunnel, I recommend it. /j

I’ve been a casual player for a while now. Not sure about the exact time I started. Two to three years ago approximately?

But I never really thought about how there were people who play with any finger other than their thumbs ‘til yesterday.

I’ve trained myself to play with my thumbs since

1) I have it on my phone and;

2) I thought it was the proper way to play.

I’m so used to using my thumbs that using my indexes to play feels odd at the moment. That can be changed with time…

While it’s not really a bad thing, it does have its limitations when it comes to freedom of movement. My phone is fairly wide so I have to stretch my thumbs to hit the notes. It puts a significant strain at the area between your index and your thumb, so you tire out more easily.

While it’s possible to Full Combo harder levels within Expert or Master range in it— it’s much more difficult than using your index fingers. Unless you have god-like reflexes and hand eye coordination, you would likely be locked into levels below 30.

But first, I would like to be able to master surviving level 26 songs with my thumbs.
