rip tiktok (not really)

EDIT: lol it was a lie. pretty sure Trump did the thing where he starts some bullshit (getting TT banned) and then swoops in to postpone the ban so he can act like he's saving our asses. anyways, maybe it'll get banned eventually, maybe not. at least I have more time to collect some more silly little videos in case it goes dark forever :3

damn, it happened!

TikTok wouldn't let me access my fyp at like 11 PM (on Jan 18), which was sick and twisted because I was under the impression it was getting banned the next day (at midnight or something; but they got on it early ig? it might also just be a difference in time zones). Bummed about all the videos I had in my drafts that I forgot to save, and I only snatched some of my fave edits and silly videos... :/ I mainly feel a lil weird about the app being banned because I was on that app for so fucking long. 💀 I joined it back when it was called "Musical.ly" and it was considered kinda cringe and the posts were mostly people lip-syncing over pop songs at 1.5x speed with goofy DIY transitions. If u wanted to have text in your video, you had to write it backwards on a piece of paper and hold it in front of the camera (CAVEMAN SHIT !).

A core memory of mine is from middle school when some guy with dyed hair and a BL anime-themed account followed me on Musical.ly and I got in trouble with my mom because she was like, "Who is this?" and I was like, "IDK," and then she looked on his account and it was all yaoi. I'm oversharing, I fear..

So yeah, mild bummer? Maybe after all this malarkey it'll get unbanned and I'll look silly for posting this at all; I guess we'll see :P On the plus side, my screentime will probably go down now! Also, I'm starting to be of the opinion that websites are superior to apps, anyway -- the feeling of surfing the web and stumbling upon some random indie site or niche blog makes me feel so connected to people, more than apps on one's phone do because there's something so personal about making something on the World Wide Web, like oh yeah we're all on here creating our little passion projects even though we're aware that nobody may see it !! this is what the internet is all about !! 

but yeah rip TikTok I guess, and that's all the tech fanboying I've got for now good NIGHT
