recent crochet projects 1/18/25

so i have 2 ideas i wanna tell u about in detail. if u just wanna quickly see they are

1) this bag i made

purple crochet dratini bag

2) small trinket pouch

ok so first i will talk about the first bag for way too long. i started that project a while (few months?) ago, i don't even remember why. i basically just found my purple yarn attached to a huge flap of fabric that had a middle separator and i had been working on stitching up the sides of it.. idk if i even specifically wanted a new bag, i think i mightve just been crazy bored at my fiances house one day? but it certainly is a bag now so i guess we'll see how much i like it or if i'll eventually give it away to someone. so after i finished up making the sides of it i was kinda like huh... just a purple flap-top bag is kinda .. boring. so the first thing i did was make a front pouch for it. i just winged it so it isn't the best pouch but yea i like that colorful baby blankey yarn its v cute. soo again as i was making the front pouch i was thinking... itd be super boring if it was just a purple bag with a rainbowy pouch right? so i looked up if there were any cute pixel grids on duckduckgo image search and i found this website which i think is for making lego art but uh i just looked at the pixels and counted my stitches to make the dratini on the front. so thanks MaxxyBlack from the Brik website. i hope ur lego stuff is going well. (btw i recreated it on this website if u wanna crochet it urself easier)

inside the dratini pouch

so then i just had this pouch and i was kinda like what would *i* put in there? well. obviously. a small plushie. and so i thought if i make the top a drawstring then my little plushie can ride around with me... but i really, REALLY do not want to lose my little plushies bc that would be very sad... so i also made a seatbelt inside the pouch for extra protection. so when i put in a little guy i tie their legs in first (the seatbelt is sewn into the interior in there)

lil webkinz golden retriever being tied into the pouch

then i sinch up the top drawstring (attached to the top of the pouch, separate from the seatbelt) to let them have a look around with me (...at all the other freaky scary people of our world...)

bag with lil kinz golden retriever

sooo i had that all finished but then i thought id really like a littlest pet shop figure to look around with me too. so i wanted to make a pouch like in (2) but i wasnt too sure how. so i ended up just trying to make a little circular window for them to look out of, but then the window was a lil too big for some lps and i was scared they could fall out, so now its like a triangular window? idk. kinda weird

the OG lps window attached to the bag

but i mean it still fits an lps so whatever, its better than nothing. they go in and out of a flap that gets sealed with a button closure.Β

lps going in his pouch

im not sure if i wanna add a second, third, or even fourth lps pouch to this bag yet... maybe? or maybe i'll just make more pouches like in (2). not sure yet :3

..so then i hand sewed in this lining using scrap fabric (its good to sew in a lining to crochet bags bc most yarn/stitch combos will cause the bag to stretch and itll sag a lot after a while)..u can see the section separator here which is kinda cool i guess. i usually NEED a water bottle, phone, and wallet wherever i go, but also usually need keys, lip balm, hand sanitizer, and sometimes i like to bring my 3ds or whatever else.. so keeping water bottle separate from electronics is good, lol

inside of bag

and the main bag kinda just closes with these butterfly buttons, which idk if thats actually a good idea, stuff could theoretically fall out .. i guess? maybe i should add another drawstring to the top like my dratini pouch? not sure yet. but yea since the top flap is double crochet stitches, the buttons can fit inbetween any row of the flap, so it can get sinched kinda tight from the buttons, or not as tight depending on which row u put the buttons into, so thats kinda cool

another angle of the bag..?

top of bag

oh, and i didnt take a picture of the back, but i just made four of those little purple crochet straps so i could use my adjustable straps to either be used as a backpack (my bear is showing the backpack version) or remove the straps from the bottom and instead only use the top 2 rings to make it a shoulder bag. so yea... i think thats literally everything about the bag lol. i love my bags to fit exactly the stuff i bring all the time, and so having them fit little plushies and trinkets is NECESSARY if its gonna be tailored specifically to me.

so also ive been thinking about how to make little ita pouches. a while ago i found this etsy listing which is super cool. this person clearly uses a zipper and some kind of clear vinyl for the window..so, i understand why this person charges $30 for each, handmade stuff is a labor of love for sure. but also i cant spend that kinda money (in looking for that listing i also found this one, very cool, might have to steal the concept... im sorry friend, but hey, i wont sell my recreated versions or distribute the pattern publicly so its legal...lol...)

anyway after various trial and errors, my current draft looks like this

lps in a pouch with a plastic window

so it is a crochet side, back, and ruffle front, with a crochet band at the top to attach a keychain to. i tried poking holes to crochet through using scissors and xacto knife, but it was too hard, so i just took a sewing needle and punched through where i wanted a stitch... it should hold up decently enough. im not sure if one day i'll get better vinyl or arcylic to sew through, this plastic is literally just a piece i cut out of a new littlest pet shop box (the 3 packs come in boxes like this and i stole the plastic window and cut it up)

and yea, it just closes up with a button again bc its quick and easy to hand sew.

button closure on clear pouch keychain

if ur curious about why im doing this, i love taking trinkets with me it makes my brain less anxious (social anxiety) and also i bought a fully plastic one like this and the plastic snapped where the keychain attached and i almost lost my lil trinket which i thought was super sad, so i decided to make my own where i can attach the metal part to yarn instead and it'll be a lot more sturdy...

ok, i think thats everything i wanted to say about these. im excited to make more trinket keychains and keep building on them (...recreating etsy ones lol) and yea ill hopefully post updates if i have them.

yea

i love lps and plushies

and crochet

^____^

thanks 4 reading friend

Omg I ADORE this!! This is so cute I can’t, especially the tiny seatbelt for the bear ohmylord it’s so adorable, AND the butterflies on the bag LAWD literally the cutest things I’ve seen on here. Also round of applause for having the motivation to finish them, my unfinished projects just sit there in the corner for centuries lol
