Goatsnake - 1 + Dog Days

This one is actually a compilation of two different releases: the first album "1" and the EP "Dog Days", but nowadays you always find these two fused in a single record, so i'll suggest the "reissue" with both instead of splitting them.

Goatsnake are one of the most recognizable Stoner/Doom Metal bands, due to their "monolithic" and really heavy sound, blended with a 70s revival riffing and dusty production.

The whole wall of sound is basically a sonic experience on its own, but the songs are also brillant songwriting-wise: you can clearly hear the Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus influence, but with a personal spin to the overall music.

Best tracks from 1: Slipping the Stealth, IV, Mower, Trower.

Best tracks from Dog Days: Long Gone, Man of Light.

The reissue also includes a really cool cover of a Black Sabbath song "Who Are You" which has been really SLOWED down to an almost Sludge feeling.

I recommend a full listen, maybe splitting the albums a taking a break between 1 and Dog Days but only if you're new to this music, if you already like Stoner/Doom, just let yourself free in this Doomy experience.
