I was watching a TikTok a couple years ago and one of the points the girl made was how the liter premise of the show, squid game, is how dangerous it is to hyper commoditize things because you end up in a world where even your own life is a commodity to be bought and sold. And it's deep. The show is about these people selling their life's and bodies away for finical gain. In the show we see half the people choose to continue to play the game even after seeing the deaths that the other players endured. A few people shockingly said their chances in the game where just as bad outside in the world, maybe even better. Comparing living life to a game where if you lose you die is strong. But that's just how bad they feel about living in South Korea. Most likely because of their issues with money. People are screaming their heads off in debt. It can be mentally deterring to have to keep up with work and paying bills and especially when that's what you depend on for basic needs. What one does in trade for their soul.
That's just a little write on my thoughts on squid game.
