SUBMISSIONS INFORMATION AND ADVICE TO
DID YOU FORGET?
An Online Collaboration ‘Zine’
Winter/Spring 2025
About the project:
This is a collaborative zine that will be composed of various pieces by approx. 5-15 creators online across the world. The overarching theme of the project, as suggested by the title, is along the lines of the idea of ‘being forgotten’. There are many things within our lives and our collective memory that have been, are being, or will be forgotten – this zine gives you a chance to present your work(s) on something that you would like others to notice or remember.
Potential topic ideas:
- Historical events and figures
- Personal and family history
- Indigenous culture
- Obsolete or outdated technology/items/fashion
- Lost media
- Less discussed or misrepresented conversations
- Activist work
- Memory
- Etc.
How could you create?
Your submission can be in any form, as long as it can be represented faithfully within a digital zine (so no audio or video). Submissions can be pre-created or created specifically for this project, as long as they are YOURS.
Forms you may want to use:
- Essay writing
- Creative writing
- Poetry and prose
- Personal analogies/stories
- Digital art
- Traditional art (drawing, sketching, painting, printing, etc.)
- Sculpture
- Multi-media
- Etc.
This project is for EVERYONE 16+. No matter your skill or experience, or whether you have been part of a project before. If you are younger or less skilled, this may be a great opportunity for you to get your foot in the door with similar activities and can be mentioned in your artistic applications.
Guidelines:
Entries must be submitted by 20th March 2025.
You will be given a 1-month reminder on the 20th February. If you have started your entry but not finished by the end date, please get in touch and we can discuss the possibility of extending your deadline. The zine will should then be published some time in April.
There are no restrictions of what you can submit, unless it has no other purpose than to harm. This means your work will not be censored and you may cover explicit or extreme topics/imagery. Each piece will be reviewed individually and humanely in order to prevent the promotion of dangerous content but also ensure that people are given the opportunity of free speech.
You may submit a maximum of 3 pieces of any length/size. They do not have to be related to each other or in the same medium.
This is a community project. It is not for profit and will not be monetised or financially benefitted from in any way. You may retract your entry up to the publication of the project. If you desire to retract your entry post-publication this will be considered on individual basis.
Submit entries to theironfoundry8@gmail.com with the title of ‘Zine Submission’.
Include:
Name (required) – can be either real name/nickname/pseudonym/username
Location (optional)
Brief description (optional) – if you would like this to be included in the zine, please specify.
Any instructions you may have on the presentation of your work(s).
If you have any queries surrounding this project, please get in touch with me personally or via email at theironfoundry8@gmail.com
If you have experience in creating digital zines and would like to help put everything together, let me know and this can be arranged if you provide examples of your work.
Happy creating!

This seems so fun and interesting. I am thinking about creating something about Haitian culture and religion. The only problem is that I don't know how to make a digital zine
That's absolutely no problem, because I'll be doing all the organising and zine stuff! All you'd need to do is email in your work. Then, I'll make everything into a digital zine and upload it using a website such as issuu which formats everything into a nice flip book. Look forward to hearing from you!

This looks so fun!!! If I don't end up participating, I would love to read it!! This is such a cool idea you're introducing to the platform :D
Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to replying, but I would love for anyone including yourself to join! Thanks for the support. Feel free to send me a message or email if you'd like to get in touch about it.
