Thursday 1/16/25

Here's another blog entry because today had pretty good moments. Yesterday had good moments as well so I will be writing about them.

Today was a 2 hour delay, so I started off playing Roblox and writing fanfiction. My morning at school started off miserably, but things turned around.

The first good moment was in Digital Design. We had to do an EdPuzzle yesterday on a video about Paula Scher and typography. Since the video was 40 minutes, I started it yesterday but finished it today. The video was awesome! It really opened my eyes on how cool and admirable typography is. And Paula is awesome herself. After watching the video in class yesterday, I finished my TF2 Scout fanart by adding some bold typography in the background. I love art so much. I love social commentary so much. I love awesome, striking designs. Seeing album covers of artists I love like Can (Ege Bamyasi) was so awesome. Just hearing about social events and movements she was apart of was amazing. I also really loved the section on feminist works. There were whole art pieces on women. One caught my eye--it was a painting of an eye and every word around it was a pejorative directed towards women. I really love feminism, and seeing that piece of art really inspired me to make some own feminist art after class. Feminism is something I am really passionate about. Art, social commentary, cultural events, sick eye-striking art. That's what I'm into. That was such a neat video, I wish other people in class admired it like I do.

Today, business wasn't interesting at all, but yesterday's assignment was. We had to pick out two ethical lens that we live by the most and describe why. I picked Rights, and then Common Good lens. I'm all for personal freedoms and getting rid of discrimination and hate. Again, I wish other students in that class felt passionate about this the way I do. I LOVE ethics, morals, behaviors, psychology, sociology. I FUCKING LOVE IT. I loved doing that assignment! I also mentioned two figures that influenced me: Frank Zappa and Hunter S. Thompson.

This week in Environmental Science, we have been discussing social and cultural issues, such as violence against women, lack of sexual education, One Child Policy, how populations are affected by things. I love it! Again, I love learning about sociology, cultures, and population. It really reminds me of AP Human Geography, a class I took freshman year. When I was a freshman, I liked the class, but I never really understood it. But I do remember really liking when we learned about populations and demographics. Now I am more passionate about these kinds of things, and I have even been thinking about re-reading the book we read for the class. I love this kind of stuff! People, historical cultural events and movements, cultures.

In Spanish, I talked to Megan who is very nice. I would like to be friends with her and talk to her more. It was super easy talking to her, it was like we automatically clicked.

In AP Lang, a student graded my synthesis essay on Urban Rewilding a 5/5. I was unsure of my essay and I thought it was very mediocre, but upon rereading some of it, I realized that it's actually pretty solid. There are some errors though, especially in the intro paragraph, which could really be improved. I need to rewrite the thesis and fix a word mix-up. But I was happy that people liked my essay.

At home earlier, I was reading about 60s counterculture, which makes me so happy and passionate. I love everything about that time in history. Progressive social changes, civil rights, alternative fashion/music, artistic and poignant cinema, questioning authority. I don't care much for the commodification of the hippie lifestyle though or drugs. But that was really a turning point in history. That is my favorite period in history ever! Maybe my career in the future can be preserving it or archiving it and explaining to people why this movie or this album is historically significant.
