I'm trying to write an article about Vaporwave, and I need to know who you guys think some essential artists are to include, who really help shaped the genre!! If you don't have any Vaporwave recs, I would also accept synthwave or chillwave, stuff that influenced/was contemporary with vaporwave. TYSMMMM

Oh awesome!! I'd say, the main originator of the style/music to the public was Macintosh Plus, specifically the album Floral Shoppe (2011), but that's general vaporwave knnowledge. Some interesting things to note though, even before it was named, vaporwave was being made. A notable example is Dreamcast Summer Songs by Devon Hendryx (later known as Jpegmafia), which came out in 2008 and carries almost all of the traits we associate with vaporwave today, even down to the retro japanese aesthetic.
Then I'd also say later on, innovators include Blank Banshee, Saint Pepsi, Windows 96 and Telepath (LOVE TELEPATH), they really formed the standard for the vaporwave sound.
