So where did social media take such a drastic turn downward?
I won't go too into detail but safe to say that social media has been a largely negative, hateful environment for the past 15 years or so, give or take. I'm not here to be doom-and-gloom, but it's been weighing on my mind for a while now.
Those of us who are old enough to remember the good ol' days of MySpace, it was fun, new, exciting and inspiring! Maybe because we can "meet" people a lot faster than with pen and paper through musician magazines or wherever. It was cool to say "My band has a MySpace page!" You didn't need to spend money on a website anymore.
I see people "defecting" to other platforms for various reasons and it's akin to club-hopping. "This club was cool but THIS one is cooler." Wash rinse repeat. No matter if it's politics, music, movies, books...honestly a lot of people lost their fucking minds and want to be angry for angry's sake over any little thing.
I am keeping my FB, IG, SpaceHey, and recently joined BlueSky (which I think is boring for now). I am hanging onto my website a little while longer but methinks it's dead wood. I'm honest enough to admit that.
Can't we all just get along again?
