Hannibal yap (lots of spoliers)

so I just finished Hannibal and omg I have things to say. first, the ending did sort of disappoint me cause I really think that after Hannibal and Will killed the red dragon they connected more than they had for the rest of the show. they saw each other for the first time fully, with no ill intent to harm the other and I would have liked the show to explore it more but I understand that it would be unrealistic for them to make such a drastic change after just one event but the show has been building this connection up, especially in season 3 so it really doesn't feel out of nowhere to me but a friend of mine is saying it is. regardless of all that I'm a glutton for some will and Hannibal scenes so I'm biased. second I'm very in between on my feelings of this show being queerbating, i really do see both sides I swear. on one hand, the show has extremely obvious homosexual undertones, and multiple times in the show either in dialogue or body language they show it so it seems stupid not to just confirm what the show was already showing and put in a kiss scene or some kind of confession (i will admit it is a shame we didn't get one) but on the other the relationship between will and Hannibal in a way transcends the normal customs of romantic love everyone else clings to so not having them conform to the regular expectation of love makes sense from a characterization standpoint but to the regular audience that casually watches won't think that deep into it so by having regular romance stuff between the two would communicate that fact to all viewers. from my own personal view, I'm sort of ok with no regular romance scenes between the two and keeping the romantic aspect so lowkey because it helps show the fact that people do not have to be all over each other to be in love. it's kinda not queerbating cause they are so queer just not in the traditional way.

one point I heard to rebut mine was that the straight relationship and the one between Alana and Margot was on display so it was unfair that they would show the gay on on screen. the whole point of keeping there's off-screen isn't cause they don't want to show a gay relationship (at least I hope it isn't, I actually can't find definitive proof of anything I'm saying its all speculation and personal opinion, not cold hard fact from the creator and network so take what I say and form an your own opinion on it) it's because will and Hannibal do not conform to the regular ideals of romance like the rest of the characters. showing everyone else in normal relationships doing regular romance stuff helps create that contrast between the "normal" and the "not normal" and between those who conform to society and those who don't.

The last point I'll make is that I'm not saying Will and Hannibal are a healthy functional couple cause they are not. I don't want this couple to exist in real life and id don't want people to idolize their actions towards each other and model it in their relationships I just think people should be able to indulge in fictional worlds with unrealistic couple dynamics and parings simply because they like the two together which is the reason i like will and Hannibal being together because they are so far away from regular everyday life and its mundaneness and shows queer love from a symbolic standpoint instead as some slice of life relatable way.
