First Blog! Rosemary Poem

Okay! Hello, Hello! This is my first time writing a blog ever, so I am admittedly a tinch nervous... Hehehe. I love working on poetry, and I recently wrote a small poem from the perspective of Kanaya, dealing with the concept of Rose being mortal.

I've been wanting to share my work for a long time, but have been way too nervous to! So, I thought this would be a good place to start.

The morning sun offers me a hug, as the beautiful days pass by

Those days being accompanied by the one I love most, and I.

For the day came when my love returned home with flowers,

I placed them upon my shelf, and watched them change within the hours.

At first they grew strong, and my face lit with joy,

Their petals were so vibrant, screaming of life that akin to a young boy.

They remind me of my love with how they blossom so bright,

Illuminating the world around them, as out the windows batter sunlight.

However it did not take long, as they began to calm down,

Their vibrant reds took a twist, and began to turn a caramel brown.

They remind me of my love with how sometimes she will droop,

Like the times she’s sick in bed, while in the kitchen, I prepare her soup.

It didn’t stop at that, for now they really began to wilt.

Their stem couldn’t hold up their head, they began to tilt.

They remind me of my love for when there will come a day,

Where it shall be hers, to wither away.

Off came the petals as they crashed onto the sill,

Their bodies no longer animated, their petals gone still.

They remind me of my love for I’m not sure how she’ll fare,

As the skin on her body becomes too much to bare.

So promise me one thing, before that time will come,

Let me hold you dearly, before you succumb;

Because I find myself like no others, as my petals don’t wilt away,

You might get carried off, but my love, I am here to stay.

That's it! It's definitely one of my shorter works, but I enjoy it nonetheless! I really hope that I continue to blog in the future, as it was a lot of fun creating this and being able to share it to others!!
