yearning for a long gone era

So I have been thinking about my middle school years fondly over the last few days. While smart phones existed, we mostly all had flip phones, blackberries, and mp3 players still. I remember when "chalking" was popular with alt hair. the kids were a bit older but I thought they were so cool! By 12 I was begging my mom to let me get choppy layers in my hair and dye it fun colors. she wouldn't let me, so we settled on adding a blue tinted black onto my hair. I spent my mornings before school teasing my hair up and spraying so much Auqanet on it that I was a walking fire hazard. 

I spent my school day listening to music on my ipod, drawing in my notebook, writing fanfictions, and brooding with my friends on the bleachers during gym class. what a time to be alive tbh. 

As much as I was picked on, i would go back in a heartbeat for sure. I really miss skipping class while my friend stretched my lobes in the bathroom with questionably 'clean' plugs she probably got from her older sister's room that morning. I miss being cringe and not caring at all. I miss walking to the library to use the computers, check out books and movies, and just hanging out quietly with my art or fanfic.net. I miss downloading mangas onto my ipod touch with a shattered screen and reading them under the covers in 8th grade. And I really miss seeing my friends. 

Now im 22. I really don't have anyone im close with. I feel really alone. and I spend my days at work or at home playing video games, reading old forum posts, browsing the web, and pretending that its 2012-2015 again. Nostagic for a time that I really didn't get to experience a whole lot of, but a time that i remember fondly. 

Highschool was meh tho. Leafy, MLG, troll face, doritos, onision, core. bleh!
