Hihiii!!! I know that like NO ONE reads my blogs, but I still wanted to post a quick rant here, because I can't anywhere else....
SO!!!!!
I'm a student in the theatre, arts and music line in my school and we started working on this years production in late November of 2024. We got our castings last week and I'm SO ANGRY!!!! This years production is Children's stories, like emperor's new clothes and folk tales about animals like why the bear has a short tail and an original story about an idiotic family. I had hoped for the role of the emperor, emperor's secretary or the mother in the family story. The emperor's secretary role went to someone who's graduating this year, I'm fine with that since they're good at acting. The mothers role went to someone a year above me, I'm also fine with that, because she really has that motherly look and vibe to her. But the emperor's role....!!!!!!! It went to another person who is graduating (SERIOUSLY! YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN IN SO MANY PRODUCTIONS ALREADY) she's not even good at acting! Seriously,,, when we were acting out the scripts for practice, she kept talking in her annoyingly monotone voice that never changes tone..!! AND the reason she got the role is because she does dance for a hobby and the introduction to the emperor will start with a dance. I HAVE DONE DANCE FOR LIKE 11 YEARS, BALLET FOR 7 AND OTHERS LIKE COMMERCCIAL JAZZ AND HIPHOP FOR 4 YEARS! Seriously,,,I thought I was really perfect for the role! Instead of the emperor, I'm some stupid commentator for the rabbit and tortoise story. I don't even understand how people who have never once acted in their life before could get better roles than me? I'm happy for them, but I really can't accept the role I was given..
This is only a small production and next year will be a big musical, but the people graduating will probably get all the main roles, I'm seriously so annoyed.
Even if I've been singing since I was little, it won't matter because the good roles will be given to those who have no talent in such things.
