I NEED to get out and go to shows open to people under 21, and I also want to support local artists and meet new people. Or at the very least, listen to under appreciated artists and expand my music library!!!!! =]

i don't live in nyc (i live in hk) but usually what i do for finding cool local shows and bands is to a local venue's insta and check out flyers of shows they are doing. a lot of the times the shows are booked by local gig organisers/bookers and they have their logo on the flyer. i basically just follow the gig organisers insta and use the similar account feature to find other organisers! those accounts always post the shows they are organising so theres always cool stuff and music and local bands!
i looked around a lil bit for nyc based organisers and i found this one based in long island! https://www.instagram.com/goldenhourbooking/?hl=en
you can just start from there and find similar organisers and accounts. this one seems to organise a lotto all ages midwest emo/alt shows and stuff so ya can go check em out and support the local scene! (^ ω ^)
