MY THOUGHTS ON ACADEMIC PRESSURE!π™šπŸ“

so, to be honest, i was born in a family where we weren't really pressured to study so hard just to get good grades. i rather have parents that would stop me from studying too much cause they don't want me to waste my life on books, rather than having a life a teenager should live.

i never really thought that the academic pressure that parents put on their kids, or even the kid themself were that intense to the point where they just forget that they have a life too.

this started just last year when i met (chatted) with this guy, lets call him pickaxe. pickaxe is Korean and he was born and raised in Korea. he's a very sweet guy and our connection actually came to point where we started dating (he was my first boyfriend and yes, we are still mutuals). as we started to become closer to each other, I've noticed how busy he can be, to the point where he would still be at school at 11pm at night.Β

that time, i was so confused cause who the heck would even have the energy to listen to a teacher talk about random stuff you don't even like? but i was more confused about the fact that there were still schools opened at that time.

you see, since grade 7 till 10, my classes where 7:30 am till 4:00 PM, unless if i took extra classes ofc, but that's besides the point. now that I'm in grade 11, my classes ranges from 10 am till 6:20 pm since i moved to a new school.

it fuzzed my brain so much so i asked him, and he explained his time table:

7:30AM-4:00PM= school

4:00PM-5:00PM=dinner breakΒ

6:00PM to 11:00PM= academy

AND HE STUDIES MORE AFTER!!!

that's when i found out that most kids in Korea or even worse, China has struggled with this for years, due to the parent's high expectations with their kids, only for them to end up being doctors, but having to heal themselves out of the trauma they were put into.

this were passed on to many generations, to the point where students just want to end it all, thinking that it would stop all the suffer they were put into since childhood.Β

as years pass by, i just hope that people would be more open minded about letting kids live their lives. stuffing them with school works doesn't guarantee their success but only for them to gain the will to succeed.

i, myself, i never once was pushed into working hard but i never got a bad grade cause, honestly, if a person wants to work hard, it should be from her own will, and not from others.

life is short, don't make it shorter because of the image you are trying to uphold. because someday, maybe you'll realize that grades isn't everything in life, and that maybe that day, you've already realized that it's too late to enjoy the only life you were given.
