hi everyone!!!!
i went to my first ever basement show today and it was like so fun and amazing. ive never been to like a house show or anything before, and literally like two days ago my friend at school was like "hey theres gonna be this house show if you wanna go i can send you the address" and i was like "yes!!!! please!!!!!"
maybe the concept of basement shows has been romanticized a little by my infatuation with 90s grunge culture, but i think it lived up to my dreams. a tiny, decrepit basement with exposed concrete, an uneven floor, exposed pipes, and those hanging tinfoil-type tubes that the bands kept telling people not to FUCKING HIT when they mosh because no one knows whats in them. i was really nervous on my way there and beforehand because i had never been to something like this despite how desperately i had wanted to, but in an extreme stroke of luck, right as i was walking into the street it was on, about to face the part that scared me most, these two girls from my school walked by me and were like "omg hi!! we know each other dont we!!" and we did ive talked to them a couple times and seen them at the shows that have happened at my school (one of the staff members books local indie bands to play in our auditorium sometimes its really cool). so i was like "oh are we going to the same show?" and they were like "uh yeah this is the only one" LMAO! they had been there before tho so i walked the rest of the way there with them. we had talked to each other and run into each other before but now i like finally knew their names. my friend who told me about the show also showed up (hes friends with the girls too) but he was like a half hour late. one of the girls got really drunk and felt really sick so the other one had to leave early (after the first half of the sets) with her and take her back (theyre roommates), they forgot their jackets tho so me and my friend had to go find them during the last set so i can give them back to them tomorrow (my friend is a commuter but i dorm at the school like the girls). its okay tho i could hear it outside and while we were looking for the jackets and i had a really good time either way!!!
now im gonna watch another episode of twin peaks because ive been watching it a lot and its really good, im going to another show, probably with the girls and maybe my friend at the same house next week, i might post about it or i might not, but hopefully i can get more material for this blog.
ALSO i might edit this later if/when my friend sends me the pictures she took there.
