whispers in the fog

The rain falls soft, like whispered tears,
Upon the earth, it disappears,
A mist of gray, a veil so thin,
That hides the world, the sights within.

The fog curls close, it wraps around,
A shroud that muffles every sound,
The sky is lost, the sun retreats,
And daylight's warmth no longer speaks.

Each drop a note of sorrow's song,
Each breath of air feels cold and wrong,
A heaviness that lingers here,
Like something more than just the fear.

Beneath the weight of endless gray,
I watch the world fade far away,
The trees stand still, the roads are bare,
As though they, too, have ceased to care.

The rain, the fog—they know this tune,
A quiet dance beneath the moon,
Of times that pass, and dreams that die,
In silence, where the shadows lie.
