the start of gen-beta this year means gen-z are officially the "new millennials", and i fear some of us are taking this role a little too seriously, and are in NUMEROUS ways treating gen-alpha the way older generations treated us. as much as i love joking at the expense of gen-alpha, it gets to a point where we're honestly just hypocrites. first of all the beginnings of the 2010s fashion resurgence, as well as the "make 2025 the new 2020" movement, i am seeing gen-z acting like millennials with their old trends. some of you are absolutely JUMPING at the opportunity to point out how inaccurate the outfits are, and how their 2020 esque TikTok's are not perfectly reprehensive of the time.  its honestly like that video of that millennial lady being like "you cute kids, you can have our 90s fashion, take it, but you'll never understand." fine with the 2010s, most of them were barely conscious at the time, but 2020? just because they were too young to PATICIPATE in the trends, doesn't mean they weren't witnessing it all happen, some older gen-alpha probably have gen-z siblings who they watched cosplay, and film TikTok's, and every other staple of the time. on top of that, some of our generation are just mistreating children, like we complained sm about how millennials acted towards us then turn around and pull the same shit on the generation below us. this is a bit of a side tangent, but we've taken the gatekeeping so far that we are gatekeeping being gen-z. the whole argument of "did gen-z end in 09 or 2012?", i am sorry to anyone this offends, but it ended in 2012. i was born in the 00s, but even i can admit that by DEFINITION, generation z ended in 2012. i think the issue is people are starting to feel their OPINION is equal to fact, obviously everyone's opinions are valid, but no matter how strongly you feel about something, it doesn't mean you're right. anyway, im not saying its not okay to joke abt gen-alpha, but just dont make us the new millennials pls
