Richard Cameron is hated too much

Richard Cameron. He is part of the Dead Poets Society we all know and love, though he is competing for the most hated character in the movie with Dr. Nolan and Mr. Perry. Why? I can see why people dislike him, he acted in his own self interest instead of what was right when Welton questioned the boys on why Neil took his life. Cameron is the first one to be questioned and he unjustly put the blame on Mr. Keating, creating a story Welton Academy now forces out of the other boys in threat of expelling them. This is why Mr. Keating is fired and the last straw that leads to Charlie being expelled.

When Scrolling on tiktok there are videos about the movie and people purposefully leaving Cameron out, naturally there are a handful of people in the comments saying he should be included, but the hate overshadows the support. Often in these tiktoks, Cameron is either left out or plainly insulted and misjudged. Some videos that put them in modern times saying they thing Cameron would be into the red pill content and other things leaning that way.
