i walk into the room of a man i once knew;
a man who was called by my name.
he still lives in that room, still invites you to lie in his bed under the dim lights of the garlands.
you're still glad to be there with him, and
if you close your eyes tightly and listen closely, you can still hear your voices;
your clothes are lying in a pile with his clothes,
your toothbrushes are in the same glass,
you share a mug of tea and take the same vitamins before bed,
you sleep under the same blanket,
you fall asleep first again, and he waits for you to tell him you love him through your sleep.
you open your eyes and you're scared of what he's become
"leave me alone."
i walk into the room of a man i once knew.
i lay down on his bed
i want so badly to be him again, just for a moment
