why the trans dude named Icarus likes Zamasu

This is kinda ramble-y and yappy, so apologies in advance.. TLDR: Zamasu from DBS is so transgender coded and hubris core /hj

We both share a sense of dissatisfaction with the status quo, albeit expressed differently. Zamasu struggles to reconcile his role as a Kai with his disdain for mortals, ultimately rejecting his original identity to become something entirely new. And yet, he flies too close to the metaphorical sun in his pursuit of perfection, ultimately leading to his downfall. My name symbolizes my willingness to take risks and embrace transformation, even when the path is difficult or uncertain. Zamasu strives for a divine evolution, seeking to transcend his limitations and become the ultimate arbiter of justice and order. While I just wish to align my physical self with my true identity, a deeply personal form of evolution. He views the mortal world as inherently flawed and incapable of achieving the order he envisions. His disdain for chaos and imperfection drives his radical actions. I have faced rejection, misunderstanding, and limitations imposed by societal norms. My dissatisfaction stems from a personal struggle to carve out a place where I can live authentically. We both seek to reshape our realities—Zamasu through divine intervention, and I through personal transformation, self-determination, and community. While this character feels alienated by the seeming ignorance and chaos of mortals, leading to his contempt and eventual rebellion, his ideology isolates him further. I have faced exclusion or struggled to find acceptance, particularly in environments resistant to change or understanding, but I find connection in those with similar struggles, and try my best to encourage them to live authentically as well. While Zamasu seeks universal justice, though his approach is destructive and authoritarian, rooted in his belief that mortals cannot govern themselves; I channel my sense of justice into activism, advocacy, or simply living authentically as a way to challenge societal norms and inspire others. The greatest form of rebellion is existing in a world that tries so hard to say you don't. I have faced a journey of self-discovery and self-affirmation, embracing my identity as a trans man despite challenges. Zamasu also rejected imposed roles and expectations to embrace a self-determined identity. He defies the cosmic order itself, rebelling against his role as a Kai and attempting to reshape the universe according to his ideals; I defy societal and biological expectations, asserting my identity and claiming my place in the world on my own terms. I see in Zamasu the same kind of determination I need to embrace my identity, albeit misdirected in Zamasu’s case. Just as the mythical Icarus sought to rise beyond mortal limits, I embody the defiance of boundaries, so of course I'd be drawn to a character that sought to transcend his limitations. I have chosen a name that reflects defiance. I, like all trans people, am a living testament to the truth that identity is not fixed but shaped by courage and conviction. Like a river carving its path through stone, I wil shape myself against the currents of expectation.
