My first time on SpaceHey!

So, I made this account on a whim at 1am this morning. I heard about SpaceHey while doomscrolling on TikTok and decided to make an account since I've recently been trying to find new social media platforms to try out. I also made a Fanbase account at around the same time since people were talking about moving to over there after the TikTok ban, so I'll be trying that out too. There's also another TikTok like app coming out soon called Neptune which I'll probably be on when it comes out as well too.

Recently I've found myself becoming kinda dissatisfied with other social media platforms so thats why I've been trying out some of these lesser known ones. Most mainstream social media platforms have started to feel the same and have also started to feel more corporate if you know what I mean, so I'm hoping that some of the more customizable and user/community oriented platforms will take off.

Since I just made this account I just used a pre-made layout for my profile, but I have kinda gotten into coding recently with Neocities so hopefully this can also be a place to practice that. I haven't really gotten that far yet cuz it can be hard to get motivated to do it sometimes cuz I'm having to balance my free-time with schoolwork and learning to code doesn't really fall into either or those so it typically gets pushed to the side. Idk I could see if I can switch my creative writing class to a coding class for the fourth marking period but if I don't I want to at least start working on it this summer.

Speaking of school I am currently doing online school and I am failing English so yippie! I should be freaking out about it but I'm weirdly calm about it at least for now. The online school I'm doing is just my public school's online program and it's actually so bad though. It's pretty much automated so you don't have any teachers really and you just read a wall of text, answer questions and move on. For most subjects it's not too bad, but for English it's awful cuz they don't take into account how long it takes to complete assignments like projects and essays so they give you one day to do those assignments and keep throwing more at you. When I was still in-person other kids would go online and then go back in-person the very next marking period because every single one of them couldn't keep up with English. So I know it's not just a me problem, everyone else is struggling too. My online school also uses another program called Buzz or something like that and honestly their online program would probably be a lot better if the just used that for everything because it's actually a lot closer to how you would normally do schoolwork. Still nowhere near in-person but in Buzz you usually have some readings and then you actually get assignments from your teacher which are usually discussion posts, open-ended questions and little mini projects and they also all have their own due dates set by the teachers and it's not just automated like "complete this many assignments by the end of the week", so it's a lot more manageable.

I guess though the reason I'm not too worried about failing is cuz I already kinda have a back-up plan. The school I go to has a really high grading scale. Anything below a 75% is failing. I think I failed English first marking period with something around a 60% to a 70%. I think I failed with exactly 70% before the marking period ended but I can't really remember that well. To put that in perspective the other schools in my area have a 60% as failing. Currently my English grade is 53% which is basically unrecoverable and the main reason it's so bad is because I can't keep up with the program. I'd also like to add that when I did in-person I was basically a straight A student so it's not like I'm just dumb or anything. I should also probably get into why I'm doing online and why it's important that I stay online but that's honestly a long story for another time.

My other friend does CCA which is a cyber charter school and he's said some really good things about it because it's a blend of in-person and online. From what I've seen of it so far you have teachers, they assign all of your work, you have the choice to go into zoom classes for them and you also have the choice to see them in-person and you also get provided a lot of stuff like physical work books and science kits which is cool. My friend is always talking about his zoom meetings for his politics class and how he's basically always 1v1ing the redneck kids in there. He graduating early this year too with CCA because they have lower requirements. I'm probably going to have to stick it out at my school for the rest of this year but I know I want to do CCA next year cuz it seems like they have a way better online program.

But yeah, maybe I should stop complaining about school and get back to talking about SpaceHey and all that. I've been wanting to do blogs for a while cuz I just love to ramble on about things, but I haven't really found a good place to do them. One of the whole reasons I'm writing this is to figure out how blogs work on here and if I like it or not. It'd be kinda cool though if I do start writing blogs on here often because I have a lot of thoughts that I've been wanting to force poor lost souls on the internet to read. I think I'd like blogging more than what other social media sites offer because not many of them offer long text-form content. Idk if that's the proper term for it but thats what I'm calling if for now. But yeah most platforms focus on either photos, short-form video, long-form video or short-form text. The closest mainstream platform to what I wanted was probably YouTube and I've been trying to set that up but honestly Idk if I'm as good as talking as I am with writing sometimes. I feel like when talking there's a bit more pressure to present what you're saying in a certain way and while there's some of that with typing I kinda feel like it's easier cuz I can take the time to think when I write and I don't really need to worry about making gestures and expressions and stuff. Idk if you get what I mean, you get what I mean and if you don't, you don't. I still do like video content cuz you can do different things with it than you can with only text so I eventually do wanna start rambling on YouTube. I do stream on Twitch sometimes and I'm usually good at rambling on there. No one really watches my Twitch so I usually end up sitting there and rambling to myself like a crazy person but I still like it. Honestly its usually when someone comes in my chat that I start not talking cuz Idk, I'm scared of them. Honestly people on the internet are scary cuz I'll have an Instagram account and start gaining followers and it'll just feel like having a large, uncontrollable mob watching you. Y'all terrify me.

But anyway uhhhh I'll probably try to blog on here every now and then probably to the void for a while. Hopefully I'll actually learn to code and make this page look cool. If there's anything weird that I typed just ignore it ig cuz I'm too lazy to go back and proof read. I'm gonna end it here because my bad posture from sitting at my desk is starting to cause pain so Imma go lay down. Bye bye internet strangers!
