what now? 🐲 i have wattpad / quotev / ao3 account

TL;DR

I have these accounts, more of a reader than a writer, have the desire to write but can't be arsed to. Here are my thoughts!

As of recent, I got out of AO3 waiting list purgatory, created an account and hop into AO3. But, where do I even begin?

I've been reading webnovel contents for the half of my lifetime, it started with middle school up to my graduations. My first exposure to fanworks technically started with DeviantArt but that started way early before I dipped my toes into the world of literary fandom works. I'm not the type to read YA other than, maybe, local literary works which I had little online people to share with.

What are the websites that I've joined?

Wattpad

It's where I first dip my toes in the fanwork scene. Pokemon, Hetalia, Soul Eater, I think it's also around the time Undertale is booming in popularity. I even had slapfights because of ships lol looking back at it nowadays, it's riddled with spam books. It's been bought by Naver, which is the Korean version of Google there. I still use it to this day even though it's already my 5th account after abandoning it 4 times over. ¯\_㋡_/¯

So, do you write there?

I did. Though, because of lacking in motivation, I never finish a fiction. It's also based on a youtuber I watch, and there's so much for me to update the lore. It's a bad idea. Older fics are lost in time because I can't access the previous accounts.

Verdict?

3.5 outta 5

Gold in a pile of corporate trash and Classics lost in time

Quotev

I only liked one fic there, and it's a Naruto fanfic about reincarnating as Deidara's twin. I left it to collect dust with the slow update and it's the only fic I'm interested there. OC quiz thing there is silly and that's how I use Quotev for.

So, do you write there?

I haven't written and publish there, nor have I connected with people there. I don't have the motivation to.

Verdict?

Underrated site but everything posted there feels juvenile and not a place for me

FictionPress / Fanfiction.Net

FictionPress is the sister site of Fanfiction.Net, and I made both accounts there to read. There's a nice variety of original works and fanfic respectively. I haven't dived deep into it, I expected it to be similar to AO3. Kind of is. The mobile app is pretty neat, I liked it as much as wattpad only that it wasn't littered with ads.

So, do you write there?

Planning to. The site seems promising.

A little worse than AO3. Also needs a better search function.

Archive of Our Own

The site itself sounds like the open source alternative to Fanfiction.Net. It's less censorious than FF so I understand the appeal of it. It has the function of either abandoning your fiction by disassociating with it without completely wiping out of existence. I heard good things about it, and I wish to publish my things there. I hope the community won't eat me alive, however. I have bad 'nam flashbacks from Wattpad.

I should get used to the UI first

Penana

Seems promising, but I'm not at all fan of the top books there, it's mostly LitRPG and one of those Chinese system fantasy type of fics.

Verdict?

2 outta 5

I lost interest quickly

There's lots of website where you can publish your novels or forums and such, but the reason why I haven't listed here because:

  1. Haven't heard of it at all.
  2. Not the niche I'm looking for hence Penana was given a low score.
  3. It's likely too intimidating for me to get into. Example: NaNoWriMo

This is Rib-Eye Black Dragon writing. 🐲

Signing off. Peace. 🐲 🐲
