AI in Art: My Perspective

While I believe AI art shouldn't be used to completely cancel out human creativity, I do believe it has its place in society and can be a powerful tool for expression.
For example, AI excels at visualizing the subconscious mind.
Here are some examples.

AI models like Stable Diffusion 1.5 can evoke feelings of familiarity and dreamlike sensations due to several factors:

Unfiltered Nature: Older methods often produce a raw and less polished output, creating an uncanny, surreal quality.
This imperfection can mimic the sometimes disjointed and hazy nature of dreams.

Pattern Recognition: AI generates images and content by recognizing patterns in large datasets. The patterns it creates can evoke subconscious familiarity, blending elements we might recognize from real life in unexpected and abstract ways.

Human-like Creativity: AI can produce combinations and variations that mirror human creativity, often leading to unique and imaginative results.
This creativity can resonate with our own sense of imagination and dream states.

Ambiguity: The slightly ambiguous and abstract nature of some AI-generated content allows for personal interpretation.
Our brains tend to fill in the gaps, often drawing from our own memories and experiences, thus creating a feeling of familiarity.

Unexpected Juxtapositions: The blending of different elements and styles that AI can achieve often results in unexpected juxtapositions, much like what one might experience in a dream.
This can make the content feel both familiar and otherworldly.

AI art often feels surreal because it visualizes concepts in an unfiltered and direct manner.

For this reason, AI excels at visualizing more obscure sensations and emotions that would otherwise be difficult to word or explain, such as obscure sorrows, anxieties, bittersweet memories, and more.

It’s for this very reason that I stick with Stable Diffusion 1.5.
I do not seek to replicate perfect art; rather, I use its more abstract nature as a method to visualize otherwise indescribable sensations and emotions.
