Punk music was not invented by the British.

The first punk band was three brothers in Detroit who formed a band called Death. They were playing punk music from the mid sixties through the early seventies. British people didn’t create punk music, they helped popularize the subculture in the seventies but the first punk band was Death. (It is very important to me that people know this because I don’t feel like people talk about the roots of the punk subculture which often erases  a lot of the key aspects of subculture.)
