Broken Escape Room

Today I went to the escape room with my boyfriend's family and his sister's boyfriend to. We were in an escape room trying to solve a murder case with clues. We had several clues some being a map that had pins on it an empty chessboard, a clock, a box on a filing cabinet, and one more box that had a lock on it. My boyfriend got the first clue: the map with pins matched another map we were given, so by writing down the locations of the pins first letter, we got the lock open. We also were calling in for clues by dialing 609 on the phone. We open a drawer and find a chess pattern of a black piece eating white pieces in a pattern that matches the board. My boyfriend also guessed one of the box codes with train times that matched a train route on the wall (tbh never got the relevance of that lol) we were also given a notebook with a random letter on each corner of the page and in between the corners as well, and there was a thick word on the opposite side page so we matched the word to which word it indicated across the page (sorry if that's confusing) and wrote down the letters in order I forgot what it came out to but it was relevant than we got more clues for the chessboard telling us how to move a piece in which directions and guess what THE TABLE WAS BROKEN! after the game was over we reviewed the table and it didn't work when it should have! lol also there were these purple light clues with bottles but we didn't see the words on the bottles so that's where we were stumped after that we took some pictures and after we went to a hibachi grill it was a good morning.
