first (unexpected) gig of 2025 a success

"So how was it?"

The unexpected first gig of 2025 was a success for sure!!

On New Years Eve, I received a Facebook message from Supernova singer Mike McCormick, asking me if I was free for a gig on Friday January 3 at Black River Barn. Oh I was!!! With the car loaded up, I was off to perform with the band and that's how my 2025 began...

Usually the place is CRAMMED with people, but this was pretty light, or light for BRB. Still a good crowd, saw a lot of familiar faces, and a couple of good friends showed up which was very cool. After a couple of technical snags, the band were firing on all sixes (well, I play a 7-string...)

Played the usual song list, ranging from Tom Petty to Poison, but we threw in some Zeppelin (!) and Van Halen as well. Nice to be asked "What songs do YOU want to do since you've been helping us so much?" I like being a sub for cover bands now, no pressure/stress/drama. I just show up, play, get paid, and go home. And with Supernova, I have NO problem giving them a hand when my schedule allows it.

Now I'm back to hibernating :)
