useless blog #2 | how to achieve that 80s vibe w any phone camera

HELLO GUYS!

i am obssessed with anything related to the 80s, so sometimes i edit my pics to make them look retro

in the beggining they looked okay, but in the reveillon i managed to create a PIECE OF ART

it looked so accurate omg

SO, i decided to share this with u guys, KEEP READING!!!1

Step 1 - Off cameras

Visual:

if you want it to look very similar to the photos from the time, I recommend you get ready with the most 80s clothes you have

mom jeans, oversized denim jackets, belts, shirts tucked in... that kind of stuff

if you have straight hair, do those blowouts or use a curling iron to give it that voluminous effect

if you have curly or frizzy hair, you don't need to do much, just a nice hairstyle, preferably

Background:

i like taking my photos at home

you don't necessarily have to have retro objects on display like Walkmans, record players, boomboxes, landline phones, etc. (but if you do, it will look nicer) just don't let very modern objects like cell phones appear

Step 2 - Taking the pic

What to do:

If you want to take photos alone, place your cell phone somewhere and activate the timer to take the photo (selfies are not retro at all)

if you have someone to take the photo for you, even better!

Pose:

preferably make a straight face if you're looking at the camera, and if you want to smile it has to be something very spontaneous, as if you were laughing

if you want to look more natural do literally anything! move objects, open books, play instruments, talk

Tip:

TURN ON THAT FUCKING FLASH!!!

if your phone's flash is weak, use any other object that emits a strong light in your direction

Step 3 - Editing time!!

You can use the photo editor from your gallery, but if you want something more complete, use photo editing apps

Color:

generally, photos taken with analog cameras leave the photos reddish or greenish

i really like to leave it red, like this:

lower the saturation, don't make it too light or too dark

anyway, use these images as an example of what to do with colors

Other effects:

use a slight blur on the photo to make it appear out of focus

if you also want, apply a noise effect

example of noise you should NOT use:

this shit is related to TV stuff

use this instead:

make it appear very smoothly, not too strong

and after all that... DONE! you have your beautiful homemade and authentic 80s pic

later I'll do an update with a pic I took following this tutorial... BYE!!!
