Starting a Blog

Although simple, creating and starting a blog on SpaceHey can be somewhat confusing and daunting. This was made to help those who are confused.

So how do I start a blog?

It's simple, all you have to do is go to the home page and click "Manage Blog". From there you can view your previous blog entries, subscribe to your blog, and create a new entry. By subscribing to anyone's blog, it will add their blog to your home under "Your Blog Subscriptions". In fact, you can even subscribe to my blog (hint hint).

To start a new entry, you just have to hit the "Create a new Entry".

I've created a new Entry. What should I do from here?

From here, you are able to add a subject, choose a category, type your Entry, choose it's privacy, and enable/disable comments.

For the subject, you should describe what your Blog Entry is about, kinda like you're titling an email or a YouTube video. For example, the subject of this Entry is "Starting a Blog" because it is telling you how to start a blog.

For the category, you can choose from many different options about what your entry is actually about. This will make it easier for other members of SpaceHey to find your blog. For example, the subject of the Entry that you are currently reading is "SpaceHey" because it is talking about a future of SpaceHey.

For the content, this is where you will actually be writing out the Entry. for example, what you are reading right now is the content of this Entry.

For the privacy, you can choose to have your Entry public, private (diary), friends, favorites list, and link-only. These are described below each option so I won't go into each here. For example, the privacy of this Entry is "public" because you are currently reading it and it is available for everyone to view.

For the comments, you can choose to allow people to comment or not. For example, this Entry has comments enabled so you can add comments to it. 

I posted my blog entry. Now what?

Now you wait for other people to view your blog, comment on it, and add kudos. You also have the option to edit your blog entry, delete it, and pin it.

By editing your blog entry, you'll be able to change and update the contents of it. This is be shown as your entry will now show when it was last updated. You can update your blog entry whenever you feel like it.

By deleting your blog entry, you just delete it. You cannot recover it after you do so.

By pinning your entry, it will show at the top of your blog and stay there instead of moving down as more entries get added.

Wait, kudos? What are those?

Kudos are like the upvotes and likes of SpaceHey. You find a blog entry helpful? Give it a kudos! You find a blog entry stupid and misleading? Don't give it a kudos! It is truly up to you what you want to do with them. You are limited to 2 a post but you are not limited to how many total kudos you give out.
