The End of Evangelion + Eva series

Oh my god. What do I even say about this movie? I just finished it and I'm obviously confused but God I do I also need to yap about it. ALSO spoilers ahead so please bear that in mind!

Ok, first of all, the entire message of this franchise, reactions and dealing with the intrinsic loneliness we all feel - already such a good idea and important message- but the exploration of it? OH GOD. Looking at every character you can see they hold a vast importance to this theme (especially the main cast obviously). Personally I also love how all the characters seen to echo and reflect each other (like Ritsuko and her mother both being fooled by Gendo and Shinji and Gendo both being the same in the way they hurt others and push them away in order to not feel pain themselves) as it gives me the impression of how we all act how we are taught/see from others, primarily our parents.

Oh and the whole mother symbolism/references have me in a chokehold. The fact that humans all came from lilith makes so much sense as to why they were references so much in the series - a mother (lilith) was humanity's first connection, the first cure to our loneliness. This also seems to go with the imagery of a woman's chest as babies bond with their mother by breastfeeding. 

Also!!! The religious stuff - there's definitely a whole lot of biblical and Armageddon references that I need to look into. (with the religious aspect I really like Gendo's whole God complex as well as him being lonely as it reminds me of there whole "being at the top means being alone" or something along those lines)

All of that aside my utter favourite part of this series (not including the gorgeous soundtrack or art) is the fact that just when you think you've figured it's all out it goes and throws you a curveball and shows that it's 10 times more deeper than you've ever realized. I mean I'm probably only scratching the surface of the characters and their writing and they're just so beautiful because they're such a good reflection of reality. 

So yeah, if you can't tell, I really like this show and the movie but of course I'm so pretty confused at some aspects and this is my raw reaction to literally just finishing it so if there's anything I've gotten wrong or think that I've mischaracterized please let me know!!
