The Rabbit and the Sun (A poem)

"Forever and Always," the Sun and Rabbit said

Now here the Rabbit lay, alone in bed

The Sun has be stolen, now the universe is dark and bleak

The cold Rabbit weeps for his return, he'll wait week after week.

Without the Sun, life is dull and dim

The Rabbit is alone, the poor creature needs him.

Like a clock, ticking minute to hour

The Rabbit waits, much like an unbloomed yellowflower.

Maybe, the Rabbit thinks, the Sun weeps for him

Maybe, the Sun is just as sad and dim

"Tell me," the Rabbit cries to the Moon

"Does the Sun long for me, will he return soon?"

The Moon, evil and cold, ignores the Rabbit's cry

The Moon, the taker, won't even let the Rabbit try

The Moon and the Rabbit, so different yet the sameΒ

The Moon hates the Rabbit, tortures him like it's a game

The Rabbit still waits, in that dark, sad room

Waiting for his beloved Sun to return, hopefully soon

The Rabbit, loyal and in love, prays to the heavensΒ

"Bring me my Sun, bring me my love at 02:11."

The Rabbit cries, for the Moon was cruel and cold

But filled with hope, he'll await his Sun til he grows old

The Rabbit is small, but the Rabbit is strongΒ

Not even the cruel Moon could tear down his hope for long

The Rabbit waits, day after day

For his Sun to return, and til then to the gods he'll pray

"O lord Eros, bring me my love"

"Lady Aphrodite, let our hearts soar like a dove"

The rabbit and the sun, forever and always

The rabbit will wait til the end of his days.Β

A poem dedicated to my amazing boyfriend. I'll wait for you, for as long as it takes. I love you. <3
