Does anyone remember FANIME???

SORRY FOR ALL OF THE GRAMMAR MISTAKES PLZ!

So, to the point, if you clicked on this blog you either:

1. Know what fanime is ٩( ᐛ )( ᐖ )۶.

2. Have no idea what the hell I’m yappin on about.

Well if you happen to be the latter, let me enlighten you, my little rascal. (BEAR WITH ME THROUGH THIS LITTLE LESSON IT'S SHORT(˵ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°˵))

Fanime stands for “Fan made anime” and usually refers to animation series that, with their art, storytelling and animation, try to replicate ANIME.

Said shows are usually drawn by relitavley inexperienced artist(-s). Therefore it usually ends up looking awkward/uncanny or unprofessional to the average watcher.

Think, a choppily animated story of a magical girl adventure with the self-insert, mary sue character of the creator or her friends. Hitting every trope like it's a game of whack-a-mole.

Fanime first picked up on youtube but I’m pretty sure it died somewhere in the late 2010’s.

I decided to write this blog on a whim because I really just wanted to yap about it, hopefully YALL(Whoever you may be T-T♡) HEAR ME OUT!

SO! If you probably couldn’t tell, fanime isn’t regarded as… GOOD or WATCHWORTHY, usually because people get the cringe from the writing, bad art ect ect. BUT I actually think that it’s kinda beautiful and nostalgic in it’s own way, let's just say in my opinion it aged well.

AND SO I feel like more people should appreciate it! CRINGE IS DEAD! I mean, half this website proves it in the best way possible.(≡^∇^≡)

OK ok lemme give an example.

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FANIME(actually has only two episodes T-T) is called “Yingyang”(AMAZING name, naturally♡). You can currently find it on a lost fanime archive on  youtube(I’ll leave the link in the end plz check it out).

It’s basically about this orphan girl who meets two boys and finds out she is half angel and half “dark” angel (Or fallen angel, I can’t recall), and the two boys are angels themselves.

It doesn’t have much in the way of an exciting plot(except when we meet the antagonists at the end of the second episode but I will leave that for you to watch), however the whole time I watched the episodes I couldn’t shake this massive feeling of nostalgia and fondness. The awkward voice acting, the bad art, the BEUTUFULL MUSIC♡, calm atmosphere. The series really brought back my own memories as a young artist, the love I felt for my work♡♡♡♡♡♡ (❁´◡`❁).

When I watch that fanime I get reminded of how much more people who make “cringe” art love what they do. The self insert characters, the juvenile romance, the tropey plot, It just feels so genuine and fun♡.

It is no secret that the people making these fanimes are usually kids or teenagers, young, inexperienced and full of passion and you can basically smell it through the screen as you watch.

So basically…

If you’re an artist and you feel stuck with your work and unhappy with what you do I recommend checking it out.

If you used to be an anime fan in the early 2010’s and miss the nostalgia and cringyness, I recommend it.

But mostly just please watch it so we can talk about it haha.

More people should care less about how “good” “bad” or “cringe” their art is and just focus more on loving what they do!

EVEN FANIME LIKE THAT with the choppy artstyle and the MS paint looking ahh backgrounds, no doubt, took HOURS to animate! ANYONE who has EVER tried animation can Immediately tell(Thats usually why fanime only last a couple of episodes).

If you asked me what the MOST POPULAR FANIME OF ALL TIME was I would be forced to say that its “Nyan Neko Sugar Girls” BUT THAT IS ONLY PARTIALLY TRUE BECAUSE IT IS SATYRICALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!

THERE, I SAID IT, I DONT WANNA HEAR ABOUT IT IN THE COMMENTS AND I WILL HAVE A FIST FIGHT WITH YOU OVER THIS.

(Sorry bout that hehe) Anyway, HAVE you ever heard of fanime before?

Have you ever tried making one? I know I would’ve if I knew how animation programs worked at the time.
