things that i don't like in profiles (as a computer graphic major student)

btw this is not meant to hate people you all do it to have nice aesthetic profiles, it's just for educational purpose! :3

1. moving profiles...

So we all tried it to make our profile cooler by adding the moving effect that makes the main part of our profile go up-down. But let me tell you guys it's annoying me A LOT. If you want to friend/unfriend or just to click on something you need to wait for the right time to hot the button and i can't tell you how many time i missed it....

2. Cursive font

many people use these really cursive fonts to make their profile cute and coquette but those kind of fonts have a whole different purpose! You can only use cursive font for a name or title yk for the aesthetic or if you want to imitate handwritten letter in a game or art because those kind of fonts are also called "decorative fonts" (ofc not all) but If you still want your profile to look cute you can use a font in the Sans-serif family like "Lora" (which i use on my profile!)

3. no layout profiles

i like to think that the layout on your profile shows who you are and if you don't have one well only the text will help you get friends and people nowdays hate to read. "But idk how to code" you don't need to know! There is a whole sections called "Layout" where thousand of Spacehey people that has posted their layouts and you can use them (with credit ofc) you can even find people that still post layouts but as blogs (since layouts are closed for now).

4. not checking your profile after adding things

This is a bit different but it just keep annoying me ESPECIALLY when i clear my friend list. People most of the time just edit their profiles and disapear from the site but you always need to check the changes you made, im saying from an experience since i have learn HTML and CSS and that part is really important. If you add falling things like stars or hearts you need to check if it's above everything or not because if it's above everything that mean you can't click on any buttons on the main part of the profile

5. neon color on neon color

something like this:

i get it if it's like your style but visually this is also bad for the eyes as cursive font. It's straining and tiring your eyes the more text there is, so i will recommend less text or more soft/dull background and text colors!

6. too much stuff on profile

And i don't mean like stamps or stuff like that i mean the gifs/images most people (including me) put on the edges of their profiles. Im not saying for nothing but for people that use their phone to look in Spacehey. Layout on mobile are always a bit out of place and put all gifs on the screen which is definitely bad. There is a solution to this but my css is so messy i might not find the right one, but you get it fixed to the corner the gif is and the profile won't be cluttered anymore!

7. BIG ASS GIFS

now...it's like the previous. The profile get too cluttered and people can't interactive with anything! Also makes sometimes the profile layout bad. you can resize your gifs and/or images by just adding to it height and width or adjusting it if there is already written one

8. loading screen

i used it...but only for my birthday layouts to scare people on my birthday lmao. Anyways i think sometimes it's cool, but sometimes it's not. Doesn't ruin the design but you are here to see the profile not to look at the "loading screen" for 10 seconds....yeah i have a little fight with it rn

9. no warnings

sometimes profile don't need warning screen but...there a lot of profile without one and do not use the same excuse "i don't how-" there are a few css codes for this

"but how do i know if i need one-" do not be worried! you should have one if you have:

moving/shaking things
straining colors (like neon)
flashing lights
blood/gore (but i hope it's not for this)
autoplay music

i can't think of anything else but those are like most important one!

10. too light text

can you see the text? no? well guess...most of the cute coquette profile have this issue. Especially because of that one layout...

i find it cute too sometimes but it's just the color of the text this light baby pink that piss me off... sometimes you just can't read the text and like that you are straining your eyes pls make the pink of the text a little bit darker! thank you. Also pls don't do the opposite as well - this pink with white text it will be the same result trust me im learning graphic design for third year...(it's a subject i have in my computer graphic major schedule)

11. oversized names

it's not common but when i see one i start tweaking out like WHY IS YOUR NAME NOT ALIGNED AND GOING TO THE OTHER TEXT??? Now for this problem idk the exact way how to fix the size but i feel like there is solution somewhere on this site

12. text on gifs

the one with scene layouts sure love it...i don't. First the chance of no reading is 90% depend on the gif and the color of the text. You can fix it by adding shadow to the text or just find another gif, or change the color of the text if you can't find another one. This isn't really apply to the one that use just glitter gifts becuase those are the best just make sure the text color is white and maybe bold (again depend on color)

13. mismatch cursors

i mean those cursors that you can't click right on the button. I hate those a lot if you see it doesn't work like normal cursor just change it 😭

14. stretched out gifs/images

it just doesn't look visually good

15. scene layouts

NO HATE TO THE CREATOR OF THOSE SCENE LAYOUTS!!! I know lot of scene people are here and they use it (especially scene layout 2) but it's almost against every graphic design rules.... and it's overstimulates me.

16. bad color combinations

not every color is suit for each other... and a little tip from me if you want to find a good combination of color you can use this site - Adobe Colors

Honestly i don't want to get deep into this, the blog will be endless. Just learn some color theory!

17. private profile

nothing wrong with them but... if it's not like your second profile or test profile...why is it private? we are here to make friends so idk maybe im just too dumb

18. copy-paste layouts

again there is nothing wrong with copy pasting a layout not everyone know css or how to change things but i still want you to be a little more creative idc if it's color or image make it more unique you can even add something! A LOT of people just do copy and then paste, and think they are cool but it's just a layout almost everyone on this site had at some point... (this only apply to the popular layouts)

furbyz0ntheRADi0_	1737429080 totally agree!! i'd guess a good 80% of the profiles on here are very inaccessable to people with photo-sensitivity issues or screenreaders. if you know how to use colors or a bit about design, you can still make a fun rainbow layout that isn't so hard to look at! I'd also encourage people to experiment with coding their layouts more often- I made my layout and although I had a computer science class in high school to help me, HTML and CSS are truly not very hard to get the hang of once you understand the basics. OwlLipgloss	1737064522 The cursors that don't exactly match where you're trying to click make me go absolutely BONKERS and not in a positive way. It's something I often check when I'm updating my profile. I've also had a moment where the loading screen on pages goes for way too long and it's a hassle interacting with anything on the page without a big gif blocking it. Also, now that you mention it, I have autoplay on my profile and considering how pretty loud it can come off as, it'd just be really nice. I don't like jumpscaring people. seddori	1735809826 I'm definitely not removing my floating code, but also want to add that there's another issue, not really design-related, that significantly degrades the user experience on a person's profile ... And it's actually connected to the floating code as well (I experienced this with my own profile) It's the huge number of large gif animations. If spacehey server starts performing worse, they take a very long time to load, and sometimes they can cause lag.
