GOTY 2024: Skye edition

Steam's "GOTY" is total BS. It only includes stuff that came out this year- 120GB moody sequels to $70 games that won't run on 99% of systems- so I've decided to make my own ranking. These games were cost-effective, ran flawlessly on 2014 hardware(which is now 11 years old?), and best of all, were good. Here's MY top 10:

10: Animal Well

At $25, Animal Well might be the most expensive game on this list, but each dollar is a megabyte. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is stellar(lets you do WHATEVER YOU WANT and I only got softlocked once), and it's pretty to listen to, too.

9: Class of '09

I just bought the game for $5 (steam sales), and the time I've put into it so far has been pretty fun. I've only done 1 route, but it knows when to be funny and when to take itself a bit serious(no it doesn't). I can definitely see myself running through and getting some more endings soon!

8: Pokemon Y

Pokemon games are ultra expensive, but I just had it lying around, so... the best way to save money is to play what you've neglected! But I like Pokemon, and Y was fun. Not as fun as Emerald Rogue- which was recently updated- but it was still a fun romp. The graphics were bad, and the gameplay was lackluster, but anygame that lets me have Jigglypuff is a good game.

7. Wheel Of Fortune(Wii)

Got it at a local video store for $10: I saw the Runaway Guys play this for years before deciding, "yeah, I need that", and hell, I did! It's a fun game to run through with family/friends, even if I don't know when to simmer down on winning. It's competitive and it's well made. Shoutouts!

5. Portal

Another cheap game. What is there to say about Portal? Find the radio and listen to my jam before coming back, k? (No 6)

4. Slay The Spire

$25, but it was on sale for $15 I believe. STS is a peak deck builder that should've topped the charts... It's pretty, it's fun, and it's relatively easy to mod. What's not to like?

3. Yakuza 0

$5, I love pressing X.

2. Slaughterhorse 2

The most recent addition! For $2, you can murder a town full of ponies as they try to deduce who the killer is. Bonus points for letting me name my knife "Common Sense"! Also includes a decent pony maker, so the customization's on top... This should be #1.

1. Terraria

$5. You play as a cute trans girl who wears frilly dresses and summons 3 shiny Mews and Rayquaza in order to defeat 26 Gokus at once... at least, that's how I played it. Easily the game I spent the most time on this year. Easily the best game I played this year.

So... what games did you like this year?
